Vision
A world where Black birthing families are thriving, empowered, whole, and healthy regardless of economic or social status.
Values
Care Statement
We incorporate education in the care we provide and use trust as the foundation for a safe space where clients feel empowered to express their desires, needs, fears, and concerns. The care we provide is
Compassionate | We listen to our clients, encourage them to use their voice, and guide them to actively participate in their care.
Personalized | We invite clients to be honest, so that we can help them in the best way possible. We tailor the birthing family’s care to meet their medical, spiritual, and emotional needs.
Culturally relatable | We are Black people who share and experience the same challenges in our current medical system as our clients. We prepare them to navigate this system.
Village Support Statement
A village supports, educates, encourages, and cares for its members, but we know that villages can be tough to build in our current society. We build villages by
Providing and/or connecting clients to resources for food, transportation, housing and utilities, childcare, essential baby items, holistic care, and doula services.
Supporting Black-owned businesses or other businesses of color when referring and/or purchasing products and services.
Offering classes, groups, and social events.
Creating pathways or opportunities for people of color by training future midwives and doulas.
Providing physical space for births to outside midwives and their clients.
